Video Camera and Software?
Ok, so I’m thinking about buying myself a new video camera. I currently use a Sony Handycam DCR-SR40. Should I stay with that or switch to something else? Also, I want to buy some new video editing software, as I currently use Windows Movie Maker. I’ve gotten tired of the minimal capabilities and crashing of the program. Total, I’d like it to be around 500 dollars or less if possible. I’m somewhat of an amateur at the whole movie thing, so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Erin,
Sounds like your camera is pretty useful. For editing software, I would recommend trakAxPC Pro. It’s aimed at the novice user but has all the features of a professional software.
It’s a really good, user-friendly and inexpensive video editing software which allows you to edit and mix any combination of audio, video and photos. It has loads of features, plus you can upload your video directly to YouTube through the application.
You can check it out here: http://www.trakax.com
Hope this helps.

Adobe Premiere Elements 8 and Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 are a couple of programs that have a lot of features without having to buy a full pro version. Both programs can import a full spectrum of video file formats. BUT, your computer may be crashing due to lack of resources such as processing speed and memory. If you vie for a new program, make sure your system meets or exceeds the minimum requirements. Highly compressed HD video requires a lot of computer to work smoothly when editing, etc. Be sure to close down any programs running in the background, especially anti-virus programs. Also Defrag your hard drive often.
Both programs cost about $70.00 (US).
