User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Why wait??
Excellent mount for the price! As others have said, don’t pay 2 or 3 hundred, that’s just insane. This mount was every bit as good as a Sanus mount costing $90-$160 at a discount retailer! DON’T PAY THEIR PRICES!! JUST GET THIS MOUNT!! Awesome quality at an excellent rpice!!

3 Stars Not so heavy duty TV mount
The price on this TV wall mount was too good to pass up, but it is not very sturdy! This mount is barley capable of supporting a 50″ plasma. I am using it now for 4 months, but I worried about it the 1st week. So far it is still holding.

5 Stars Great Install.. Especially Screws
If you’ve ever mounted a TV before, you know drilling those screws into the stud can be an absolute pain.. pushing hard and risking stripping the screws. This mount had a great system. After you drill the pilot holes, use a socket wrench to install and tighten the screws. Amazingly simple and hassle free. Love it. Yeah watch the levels they are not accurate. Use your own. What a deal for so cheap. The tilt works as designed as well.

4 Stars Great mount, great customer service, but took some time
It took about five days to receive this product and I only got the metal pieces. I called the company and they shipped the mounting hardware in two days and emailed me installation instructions immediately. I didn’t have to sit on hold forever and they were very friendly and helpful. We used this to hold a 42″ Samsung and so far so good! Oh and like everyone else has also said, don’t use the level because it’s definitely not accurate. :)

4 Stars Pretty Good
So i bought this mount because of the good reviews posted about it. Everything was great until I had to mount the wall bracket. Being the perfectionist I am it took me close to an hour to figure out exactly how I want it hung, ie; height, where my outlet was, ect. Once I figured out where I wanted it to go it took only 15 minutes or so to get the wall mount set. Everthing from there was great but the reason why I marked a 4 star was due to the lack of illustrations in the directions. I’m a visualy learner and this lack of information is probably why it took me an extra 30 or so minutes.

All in all a good product. Total installation time was 1 hour.

OCTO Messenger Bag for Amazon Kindle 2

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

OCTO Messenger Bag for Amazon Kindle 2

This unisex stylish messenger bag is made from Italian leather and has a purposely designed inside pocket to hold the Kindle 2. Not only is it useful for carrying the Kindle 2, but it can be used to for carrying necessary day to day items. Suitable for men and women, this bag eliminates the need to carry around 2 bags.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Extra Protection
I bought this to provide additional protection for my Kindle 2. I have the leather cover for the Kindle 2, but I travel all the time, and I wanted to provide some extra protection to the Kindle and be able to keep the charger, the Mighty Bright light, etc. organized.

I was concerned after reading the reviews that the Kindle might not fit with the cover on, that the snaps would be hard to work.

I had no problems. My Kindle 2 with the leather cover from Amazon fit perfectly. The snaps work just fine, too. Perhaps the manufacturer has listened to customers, perhaps earlier batches had issues. I don’t know. But I can say that my messenger bag arrived yesterday and I was happy with it.

The comments about it being leather on the front and not on the back are correct. That was disappointing. It is heavily reinforced material, but it is disappointing in both appearance and feel. The strap is broad nylon mesh. Sturdy enough to carry a 17″ laptop. Again, a leather strap would be more elegant.

I rate this a 4 for the ability to add extra protection and organization, but a 2 for the value and aesthetics. For $70, I do expect leather front and back and a leather strap. They manage that even with cheap laptop bags at Staples for a lot less.

5 Stars Strong and Durable
I’ve had this bag since March of 2008. Back then it was for the Kindle 1 and I don’t think they’ve made any changes to it except the name. It was $10 less then. I use this bag everyday as my “man purse”. Sometimes this thing is over my shoulder for 12 – 16 hours a day. Everything still works fine on it, zipper, snaps, strap. The leather flap has a few scratches but is fine excepting those. So if you are looking for a long lasting bag you’ve found it.

5 Stars Great bag
I love this bag I just recieved it for my kindle i had been thinking about purchasing it for a while because it would be perfect for taking my kindle with me. I don’t know what other reviewers are talking about how the kindle only fits in the kindle slot out of the case my kindle slides right in perfectly and easily in its m-edge cover the strap is adjustable to allow for various ways of carrying the kindle I am able to put my kindle in it and all of the kindles accessories like the charger and link cable and my book light and have plenty of room to spare for my ipods and phone and all their accessories. I am very impressed and very happy with my purchase. the bags quality is also very sturdy and excellent. great product!

5 Stars Love it!!!
Great bag, not oly for my kindle, but cell phone, small journal, and extra stuff I carry. Works for me!

5 Stars Stylish and Functional

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, Sony has stopped making this product. The TV function on my first one wouldn’t transfer from the CD to TV (locked up and was apparently not repairable???), and I finally found another one on the internet as is the TV that I use most. The radio and CD player still play fine on the first unit. This under-counter TV has an EXCELLENT picture. It is in my kitchen, and I use it daily. No other under-counter unit had good reviews when I bought the first or second Sony. This product needs to be put back on the production line!!!

4 Stars Overall very happy with this product
Bought this for space and for listening to music and the news while cooking. Am VERY happy that I did. Space is awesome; it fits my needs for CD/FM/and TV. (If I wanted to watch a big screen, I’d go to the family room anyway). Easy installation in the corner cabinet, no accessory needed. The reason for the 4 stars is that one of the stations does not have sound (haven’t figured out what that problem is) and also the AM reception is very poor. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? Finally, wanted to point out that you may be able to find this product for half the cost –as I did at a local TV dealer.

3 Stars Too deep for cabinet
I’d had a GE unit that fit well but worked only O.K. when it stopped working I purchased this w/o checking depth. Jiggering it around and drilling through the cabinet frame, the unit still protrudes from under the cabinet and I still had to get a right angle converter AND loosen all the mounting screws and gouge the drywall to get it to fit. That’s ridiculous.

1 Star Good…untill it stops working!
Installation was not difficult with the right angle coax connector. We would use this unit for approx. 10 or 15 mins in the morning. We were very pleased with it’s performance untill one day we pressed th ON button and nothing happened. No clock, no radio, no CD player, no TV, no power. We have had this thing for 8 months. $200.00 for 8 months of service. That doesn’t rate very high in my book.

1 Star After 30 minutes the TV went black and never recovered
After 30 minutes the TV went black and never recovered. Further the provider Sandadeals did not honor a return as they have a no return policy per Amazon. Makes it tough. Sony will only attempt a repair or give a refurbished unit. The downside when a product fails, its better to buy from Best Stores.

Sony PRS 700BC Digital Book Reader w Accessory Bundle

Imagine holding a library of books conveniently in one hand. Begin a new chapter with the PRS-700BC Reader Digital Book. Boasting an impressive 6.0-inch, touch screen display, this Reader uses paper-like E Ink technology which makes it easier to read, even in bright-light situations. In addition to a built-in light, there’s an interactive touch screen that lets you turn pages with the slide of a finger or activate the bookmark. You can also create annotations with a virtual keyboard, highlight text with a stylus pen, search for text in your digital book, and easily adjust the font size. A faster processor gives you quicker response times when opening content or turning pages. Ideal for travelers or people who like to read while on the go, the PRS-700BC holds approximately 320 digital books. A sizeable 6-inch display with touchscreen technology lets you interact with the Reader just like a real book. A simple movement with the slide of a finger lets you easily turn pages or activate the bookmark. It also features a virtual keyboard that can be used for quick annotation or search. While most portable electronics lose power after only a few hours, the Reader Digital Book lets you turn up to 7,500 continuous pages (or up to two weeks of reading) on a single charge of internal rechargeable battery. +PLUS+ 4GB SD CARD – SONY AC ADAPTER

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Sony Prs-700 with Accessory Bundle
I have never left a review on Amazon.com before, (out of laziness) although I have bought many products here over the years.

I decided to leave a review for the Sony Portable Reader 700, since there seems to be some misconception regarding this product, and there aren’t ENOUGH (real) reviews here, as opposed to the Kindle (Amazon’s own proprietary reader, which is heavily advertised here). I think the reason for this is because amazon reading device, is sold EXCLUSIVELY on Amazon.com to Americans. So it’s only natural that it has many hundreds of reviews on this site.

The Sony Readers are sold in thousands of locations, airports, stores, online, bookstores etc. and in several countries around the world. Since very few Sony Reader owners bought their device on Amazon, it’s only natural that the reviews here are much fewer. (Then unfortunately there are the Trolls, who leave fake bad ‘reviews’ for the Sony Reader, trying to damage the ratings for some reason known only to themselves).

This is Sony’s 4th e-ink Reader. First the Librie in 2004 which was the very first e-ink reader in the world, then the Sony PRS-500 Portable Reader System, in 2006. The PRS-505 which came in three colors in 2007; Sony PRS-505/LC Blue Digital Book Reader, the Sony PRS-505/RC Digital eBook Reader – Red, and the Sony PRS-505 Portable Digital e-Reader System (Silver) and now, the LATEST offering, the Sony PRS-700 Reader Digital Book Portable eBook reader with 6″ touchscreen display.

The reason I mention the 700’s predecessors is to point out that Sony isn’t new at the e-ink (e-paper) business. In fact, they were the first!

I had a hard time deciding between the PRS-505 Red and the PRS-700. The PRS-505 has a slightly crisper screen and I LOVED the stylish red color of the device, especially paired with a red leather cover. But for me, the PRS-700 has better features, and more fancy bells and whistles (and comes with a free cover).

I decided on the 700 and although it’s only available in black, it has the features that I wanted most, and it is the latest :) .

The device is very grown-up and stylish looking, great to hold, (not too heavy) and looks EXPENSIVE and nice! Non gimmicky and no cheap plastic here, but then again, that is what we have come to expect from a Sony product.

The touch screen is interactive and can be used as a virtual keyboard to make notes. Words can be highlighted and saved, pages can be bookmarked, small natural gestures to turn pages, (there are also small well placed buttons for page turns and zoom etc.) using either the stylus or your fingers. The last page on all the books you are reading, is remembered, so it takes only seconds to continue reading a book where you left off last time.

Page turns are super fast and there is an ability to zoom into PDF documents, and move them around on the page. Hundreds of books, documents, photos, images and mp3’s can be stored on the internal device and there are two options for expanding. A SD Memory Card slot (a 4 GB card is in this bundle) and Memory Stick Duo slot, thereby increasing the amount space of books to virtually UNLIMITED!

The Sony PRS-700 supports many document types, PDF, ePub, TXT, RFT, to name just a few. So books can be bought from many sources NOT only the Sony Connect store. Your own documents and ebooks that you already own, can be easily and quickly transferred to your device. A free open source library software called Calibre, (that works very much like iTunes) works fantastically with your Sony and even converts file types and adds metadata and book covers for you.

Sony has recently partnered with Google books bringing their book count up to 600′000 books! The 500′00 Google books are free and mostly in the ePub format. Fantastic news!

Some people have complained about foggy screen, but I don’t feel that to be the case. Yes, yes…. I hear that the 505’s screen is crisper, but since I don’t have one to compare with I don’t feel the loss, and I’m quite happy – MORE than happy with my personal choice. I have sometimes forgotten that I am using a Reader and slathered my hands with lotion before going to bed (to read), but found NO smudges on the screen the next day. The Sony PRS-700 definitely has a fantastic NON SMUDGE screen.

Also complaints about glare…. WHAT glare? Honestly! The only (small) glare that I encountered was a small spot off the metal edge of the device, and then again only if an artificial light was shining directly on the device.. A tiny adjustment to to the angle – GONE! Oh, and the Sony Reader is fantastic to read outside!!

All in all, I highly recommend this product for quality, ease of use, support of many formats, thousands of books, stylish design, reasonable price, ability to read in the dark (built in LEDs), and ‘coolness’ factor!

On a final note I would like to add that there are many ebook and e-ink Readers and devices out on the market now. For eg. The Illiad, Kindle, Bebook, Bookeen Cybook, Hanlin etc etc. There is no wrong or right choice. Do your homework and find the ebook device that best suits YOUR needs. And all those fanatics that support ONLY your own device and try to damage the rating of others…. WHY! That is just plain silly. Who hates their neighbor because they drive a different model car, or hates their friends of family because their mobile phone is a different make or model? I think we should be open minded in order to increase the availability of e-BOOKS, not necessarily of a specific device. IMHO
